The Moment Before Dawn

As summer lurks around the bend,

And restful mind does likely spend,

A time to sleep within the morn,

And lay me down my bed adorn,

I hear the song of birds outside,

And smile in safety while I hide,

Myself in sleep where dreams may find,

A longing here to cleanse my mind,

For in this dream I am awake,

Listless, restless, while I take,

The sense of senses all around,

May bring the blossoms to be found,

Outside the window where upon,

The summer rises - the moment before dawn.
