On the Eve of War

On the Eve of War, one wonders why,

A million lives, must come to die,

A million more, as time goes by,

A million mothers, come to cry,

And life you lose, is gone for good,

A noble cause, you wish it would,

Compel your troops their merry way,

Compel your troops to die today,

In name of what? I ask you now,

In name of peace? I ask you how,

That death becomes the devil’s way,

And peace is certain with peaceful ways,

So on this eve of circumstance,

I beg the warriors holding lance,

To lay them down in name of peace,

And save your mothers, lives of grief,

For history knows the price of death,

Is living lives with death’s regret.
